- Mulawear Sports Bra and Leggings for Yoga and Pilates: Athleisure Wear Review
Our Wellness Writer recently had the chance to try out Mulawear's sports bra and leggings as part of the brand's launch in Singapore, here are her thoughts PHOTO: NICOLE CHOW, SPORTPLUS.SG With the recent arrival of Mulawear in Singapore, word on the streets among sports and fitness enthusiasts is that Korea's number one athleisure brand will give top brands like lululemon and Alo Yoga a run for their money. Also read: Move over lululemon and Alo, Korea's Number 1 Activewear brand is now in Singapore So you can understand why I was eager to find out what the hype was all about when SportPlus.sg was invited to try out Mulawear's apparels as part of a collaboration with Off Duty Pilates studio. Needless to say, I am not all that great at pilates, and I chose the beginner's session at Off Duty Pilates' Tanjong Pagar outlet, but that's another topic for another day. PHOTO: NICOLE CHOW, SPORTPLUS.SG I was given the option to choose from Mulawear's athleisure line of bra tops and leggings, and I went for the soft and support short bra top in the colour silver birch, and the new noble no cut leggings in mint gray. These were supposed to be the famed miraculous 6 Year lifespan leggings, with Mulawear giving a firm promise to their customers that their leggings would last at least 6 years, as compared to most other brands whose leggings with everyday use expected to last for only six months. Having tried both out in a pilates class over the weekend, here are my thoughts: SOFT AND SUPPORT SHORT BRA TOP Overall support, and what did I like about it? I really liked the material of the bra top, it’s extremely soft to the touch and it hugs the contours of my body very well without excessively pinching on my skin. I found that the support was more than good enough for the pilates session but I wouldn't know what it’d be like if I had worn it for other more intensive physical activities such as HIIT or sports training, and would probably have to try it out for myself before I can offer an opinion on that. PHOTO: NICOLE CHOW, SPORTPLUS.SG What else was interesting about the sports bra? The design of the bra top was very chic and I even had people come up to me to ask about the bra top because they thought that it looked really good and wanted to get it for themselves so that made me think "Wow! I must have made a very good choice in choosing this bra top." NEW NOBLE NO CUT LEGGINGS What did I like most about it? The fit of the leggings was honestly very flattering and it was also very easy to slip on. It was a good fit of tightness and didn’t make my body feel too overly compressed. PHOTO: NICOLE CHOW, SPORTPLUS.SG What else was interesting about these leggings? The most interesting bit would have to be that it is promised to be able to last for six years. Obviously there is no way I can tell in this review if it will last for that long, but the fact that Mulawear is willing to put their reputation on the line with such a promise does gives customers the confidence that they are buying quality - a key value proposition of Mulawear. Initial Concerns Initially because I chose lighter coloured apparels I was afraid that sweat stains would show during the session but to my surprise, there was none at all so that was something I really appreciated and it also allowed me to enjoy myself without having to be too self conscious. PHOTO: NICOLE CHOW, SPORTPLUS.SG Final Thoughts While I have yet to try out other products in Mulawear's athleisure line, the ones I chose I believe are very well worth the money. If you are looking to get something for your home workout, or for yoga and pilates, these are good investments that you will truly enjoy for your next class. - Swim School Helps Equip Children with Both Survival and Competitive Swimming Skills: SwimRay
From competitive to open water swimming and swimming for special needs, SwimRay offers a broad spectrum of classes for people of varying needs SwimRay has a 5-step Aquatic Roadmap that progressively teaches students accident survival swimming and competitive swimming concepts, concluding in open water swimming. PHOTO: SWIMRAY 21 gold medals. That’s how many gold medals Team Singapore’s swimmers, led by swimming powerhouses, Joseph Schooling and Quah Zheng Wen, have swept at the 31st SEA Games this May. Beyond dazzling gold medals, swimming is an essential life skill. In fact, it is a key skill for most Primary School children under the SwimSafer 2.0 programme, designed to equip participants with more rigorous water survival and swimming competency skills. Swim classes for adults are also available at SwimRay Swim School. PHOTO: SWIMRAY Swimming is one of the most popular sports in Singapore, with over 2.5 million visits to swimming pools in 2021 alone. With its growing popularity, water safety in pools – and open water has become all the more paramount, especially with the concerning spate of recent drowning incidents that have occurred in open water. With that in mind, we turn our attentions this week to SwimRay, a leading private swim school in Singapore that offers a first-of-a-kind pedagogy combining accident survival swimming techniques and competitive swimming skills. An Open Water Swim lesson conducted by SwimRay's co-founder Jay Lin. PHOTO: SWIMRAY As a former swim student and naval diver himself, SwimRay Co-Founder Ray Kua noticed that most private swimming lessons in Singapore primarily focus on stroke efficiency, with little to no emphasis on water survival in open water. Ray also explained that parents have shared their past experiences with him, where they faced inconsistent scheduling and tardiness with some freelance private swim coaches. SwimRay is an inclusive swim school that caters to people from all walks of life. PHOTO: SWIMRAY As such, SwimRay developed its “School to You” motto for parents, with professionalism and quality control equivalent to a venue-based swim school, combined with the flexibility and convenience of private swimming lessons. To help value-add the learning experience and build confidence amongst swimmers in open water, SwimRay incorporates accident survival swimming skills to equip children with drownproofing, limb immobility swimming, and shock entry skills. Classes at SwimRay include categories for babies (6 - 24 months), toddlers (2 - 4 years old), and kids (5-16 years old). PHOTO: SWIMRAY Together with Co-Founder Jay Lin, a former competitive swimmer for Taiwan and Singapore, SwimRay’s lessons also include the competitive elements of swimming. This is enhanced with their proprietary 5-step Aquatic Roadmap that progressively teaches students accident survival swimming and competitive swimming concepts, concluding in open water swimming. Each student is also tagged to a dedicated administrative, scheduling and financing team, along with their coach, to ensure proper rostering, scheduling and quality control. SwimRay Swim School features a team of 30-strong coaches. PHOTO: SWIMRAY The 30-strong team of coaches are selected based on their experiences in open water or competitive swimming, and they undergo monthly trainings and orientations to keep their skills relevant and aligned with SwimRay’s pedagogy and services. With over 5,000 students in Singapore and 15 specialised swimming classes available, SwimRay also offers female-only, special needs and family classes for students of all ages. Special partnership programs, curated with organisations like the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped, help ensure that all children can get an equal opportunity to learn to swim regardless of their needs. PHOTO: SWIMRAY About SwimRay SwimRay is a leading private swimming school in Singapore pioneered by Ray Kua and Jay Lin, two individuals with strong backgrounds in water-related training and sports. Ray was a former military combat diver during National Service, and Jay is a competitive triathlon swim coach. Together, they have formulated a teaching pedagogy unique to SwimRay, combining elements of accident survival swimming with competitive swimming, with a fundamental goal of ensuring students learn to swim safely and confidently. Since 2017, SwimRay has established a strong industry presence with over 5,000 students of all ages in Singapore and a 30-strong team. They offer an extensive range of 15 specialised swimming classes catered for all needs and ages, including babies, toddlers, children, adults, females, special needs children, and families. #SportPlusSG #Swimming #SwimLessons
- What is Aerial Yoga and What are its benefits?
Ever wanted to try out Aerial Yoga? Here we talk you through some of the reasons why you should follow through with that plan Aerial Yoga brings with it many physical and mental health benefits. PHOTO: SPORTPLUS.SG So you've been doing mat yoga for some time, and you're thinking of switching things up a bit. You swipe through your social media feed and come across videos and pictures of other members of the yoga fam hanging from the ceiling, twirling around gracefully and you wonder: "maybe I could try that?" Watch as host Cheryl Tay tries out Aerial Yoga at Trium Fitness in our latest Studio Plus video episode. The only thing is you're not sure what to expect, how difficult it might be, or if its something that's even worth your time and money. Join SportPlus.sg host Cheryl Tay as she makes a visit to Trium Fitness to try her hands on Aerial Yoga with Yoga instructor Dawn Sim. Dawn Sim showing different exercises that can be done with the Aerial Silk Hammock. PHOTO: SPORTPLUS.SG What is Aerial Yoga? One of the most popular misconceptions of Aerial Yoga is that you need to be flexible or acrobatic in order to begin. Aerial yoga merges the physical poses of yoga, or what are called asanas, with yoga philosophies from the aerial arts. Researchers believe that having your body suspended in mid-air allows it to open up and move more gently than if it were to do so on the floor. This is particularly helpful for those who are recovering from injuries or knee issues. The use of silk hammocks and fabrics are also useful in allowing practitioners to form shapes, improving balance. Cheryl Tay attempting an inversion, commonly practised in Aerial Yoga. PHOTO: SPORTPLUS.SG Benefits of Aerial Yoga Not every Aerial Yoga class involves acrobatics. Beginner classes generally are more easily doable, and the use of aerial silks in general have also proven to be therapeutic for many. Even if you aren't big on acrobatics, you should definitely try and inversion and enjoy the rush that comes after when you get back into an upright position! Beyond having many physical benefits such as improving range of motion and strengthening of your core muscles, Aerial Yoga also carries with it mental health benefits, and can be a good alternative to consider to your usual yoga classes. - Bouncing to an unparalleled workout experience: BounceFit Instructor Jade Seah
Fitness celebrity and content creator has found a new lease of life teaching classes on a trampoline ever since Covid-19 Circuit Breaker ended in Singapore, we find out why Jade Seah teaching a Bouncefit class at Kulture Studios. PHOTO: SPORTPLUS.SG What's it take to be a Bouncefit instructor? We ask celebrity host and content creator Jade Seah, who shares her new found passion of working out by bouncing on a trampoline at Bouncefitness at Kulture Studios. But first, what exactly is Bouncefit and why is it so popular among Singaporeans? According to the official website, Bouncefit is a trademark rhythm-based rebounding workout by Kulture Studios that features a holistic combination of aerobic and anaerobic routines with power-sport elements. Watch our latest Stories+ episode featuring Jade Seah's story as a Bouncefit instructor right here on Studio Plus. This complex workout is conducted on custom-made mini trampolines, primarily cardio (think weight loss) and is also an extremely effective in terms of strengthening. To add to the ambience, classes are usually done under smart LED lights, combined with an amazing and fun music playlist, for a truly unparalleled workout experience. So when did Jade Seah fall in love with Bounce Fitness and decide to become an instructor? "I did it for many years, but got heavy into it during circuit breaker. They were renting out trampolines, and I had one at home and I was so bored," she said with a chuckle. Jade Seah has been doing Bouncefit for some time before she decided to become an instructor post circuit breaker. PHOTO: SPORTPLUS.SG "So I would bounce, and it was one way to hang out with my friends virtually. So I got a lot of my friends into it. When circuit breaker ended and work was still a little slow to pick up, I asked Jae(the owner of BounceFit) if I could become an instructor, and he was very enthusiastic about it. He was confident he could train me to become an instructor within a month." The rest as they say, was history. We asked Jade what first timers of Bouncefit can expect from the experience, to which she shared: "The first time is always a big shiong, because it's like a shock to the system. Honestly for me as well, don't pressure yourself. I always tell this to first timers, if you cannot catch the steps, like you got hand-eye coordination issues." SportPlus.sg host Cheryl Tay quizzes Jade on her journey into Bouncefit and life as a Bouncefit instructor. PHOTO: SPORTPLUS.SG She will usually try to slow things down so that everyone in class can begin together at a manageable pace. Jade continued, "I try to go slow with the rhythm and try to pick up the pace first. When everyone has got the rhythm then I move on to the next step." "But if you cannot catch the next step, just stick to the rhythm and just go at your own pace. It's all about having fun." Jade Seah leading a cool down session post workout at Kulture Studios. PHOTO: SPORTPLUS.SG Those interested to pick up BounceFit can do so by trying it out at Kulture Studios, located at 12 Tai Seng Link, Singapore 534233. - lululemon launches new running collection in conjunction with Global Running Day
New 9-piece SenseKnit Running Collection is said to deliver unparalleled performance and feel for runners PHOTO: LULULEMON SINGAPORE Singapore, 31 May 2022 - lululemon has launched a new SenseKnit Running Collection today, in conjunction with Global Running Day (1 June 2022). According to reports, the SenseKnit Running Collection is said to deliver an unparalleled performance and feel for runners, with the 9-piece collection for men and women being lululemon’s latest innovation for its technical running range. PHOTO: LULULEMON SINGAPORE The collection complements lululemon's core running styles: Fast & Free, Swiftly & Metal Vent Tech, Surge, Swift Speed and carries a suite of proprietary performance fabrics and technology which includes Nulux, Luxtreme, Ultralu and Silverescent powered by X-static. Developed over a period of four years, the new SenseKnit Running Collection was designed using real human insights and with Science of Feel as lululemon's innovation lens. PHOTO: LULULEMON SINGAPORE The Canadian sports and athleisure brands worked together with its athletes and ambassadors to understand how they wanted to feel during their runs; and were given feedback that their best runs were when their gear “felt like nothing at all” and that “less is more” when it came to features and construction. PHOTO: LULULEMON SINGAPORE With these insights, lululemon studied the body in motion with 5 rounds of in-lab testing spanning pressure distribution, movement analysis, shape, perceptual feedback; and 2 rounds of in-field testing - tested and validated by its global collective of ambassadors and athletes to achieve the sensation they are confident runners are looking for – unrestricted, lightweight support – while also delivering the technical performance and endurance they need when running. PHOTO: LULULEMON SINGAPORE The result is a collection that puts runners’ desired sensations in sync – minimising distraction and therefore maximising their ability to focus. lululemon's proprietary SenseKnit fabric technology seamlessly engineers zones of support, breathability, and mobility directly into the fabric without having to cut and sew. PHOTO: LULULEMON SINGAPORE Creators of the collection have obsessed over its construction, delivering only what runners needed and exactly where they needed it, including: Targeted support to reduce soft tissue bounce across the glutes, stomach, thighs while enhancing your body’s natural muscle compression, increased mobility across joints like knees and hips, giving unrestricted range of motion exactly where you want it, and elevated ventilation maximizes breathability across high sweat areas. #Activewear #lululemonSG #Running
- 5 easy Yoga stretches for runners and fitness enthusiasts
Renowned yoga instructor Roxanne Gan walks us through five easy yoga stretches that are good for runners, cyclists and those who work out PHOTO: AMAR DONEPUDI, SPORTPLUS.SG If you are an athlete, a sportsperson or just someone who lives an active lifestyle but can't find the time or the discipline to do proper stretching, then you might find yourself tightening up in all the wrong places. These could even lead to lower back aches, and limited range of mobility or flexibility in the hamstrings or calves. Flexibility work is definitely an important part of working out, so what are some of the yoga stretches that can benefit you if you aren't already a seasoned yogi? PHOTO: AMAR DONEPUDI, SPORTPLUS.SG SportPlus.sg host John Yeong who is an avid runner and fitness enthusiast himself, managed to catch up with reknowned yoga instructor Roxanne Gan to ask her for some simple Yoga stretches that just about anyone can do. Here are five easy yoga stretches you can incorporate into your recovery regime. Calves 1. With the help of a block, step onto the block with the ball of your foot 2. Keep the heel of the foot stepping on the block down as much as possible, this may be a challenge for those with very tight ankles as well or have ankles with limited range of motion 3. Have your feet side by side, so place your non stepping foot resting parallel to the block PHOTO: AMAR DONEPUDI, SPORTPLUS.SG Hamstrings First find out your hip mobility with a simple flexibility test, by sitting with both feet in front of you and folding forward. Depending on how tight you may be, you might see your back behind your hips, in which case it would be better to perform this stretch against a wall. PHOTO: AMAR DONEPUDI, SPORTPLUS.SG 1. Place your bum against the wall 2. Fold forward and hug your elbows as you dangle loosely 3. Keep your knees soft, never lock or straighten your knees for this stretch PHOTO: AMAR DONEPUDI, SPORTPLUS.SG Groin A good stretch for the groin or inner thigh is the asian squat. Some people struggle with going all the way down when squatting, in which case you can once again place your heels on a block for a more effective stretch, or sit on the block. 1. With your elbows against the knees, push your elbows out 2. Try to lift your chest up and avoid rounding the back 3. Brace your core in and lift more from your lower back PHOTO: AMAR DONEPUDI, SPORTPLUS.SG Glutes Known by the yoga community as the pigeon pose, this stretch involved bending one knee in front of you and placing your ankle on the ground. 1. Fold forward and place your forearms down on the ground 2. Try to hold the pose for about 2 minutes PHOTO: AMAR DONEPUDI, SPORTPLUS.SG Lower Back For those who may suffer from lower back tightness or lower back aches, this yoga stretch is a simple and effective way to loosen the tightness. 1. Lie down on your back 2. Bend your knee to your chest, with the help of your hand holding your knee to your chest 3. Remember to relax your shoulders and keep the down on the ground 4. Next, stretch your arm out to the side before dropping your knee down to the opposite side We hope this has been an insightful article that will benefit you in your post exercise or training recovery. - An exercise mat for Yoga and home workouts by Decathlon
John Yeong reviews Decathlon's Fitness Floormat Tonemat Maxi Grip, and gives his take on whether it is a worthy investment for your home workouts or yoga classes PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG "Are home workouts still a thing?" you might ask. With the recent re-opening of the economy and people returning to work in office, we have probably witnessed fitness gyms, yoga and pilates studios filling up for the first time in over two years. In truth however, while there is plenty to be positive about for the sports and fitness industry, we are probably not quite back to being fully normal as we were in pre-Covid times, and data from studies by Sport Singapore seem to support that and suggest that most still prefer hybrid arrangements - be it when it comes to work or working out. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG And since the pandemic has underlined the importance of personal hygiene, this is where having a personal exercise mat or yoga mat would come in handy - even if you were to workout less from home and spend your time exercising in a commercial gym or private studio. I recently had the opportunity to try out Decathlon's Fitness Floormat Tonemat Maxi Grip at the Decathlon x COMO Shambhala International Yoga Day media preview event, in a class of lyengar yoga. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG While the exercise mat can be used for a variety of workouts beyond yoga, I thought it was a good place to start. Without further ado, here are my thoughts: We all know that good yoga mats should be comfortable and supportive, and provide sufficient grip to keep you from slipping, and is easy to clean and carry, and it is no different for exercise mats or fitness mats in general. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG I am not a fan of foamy mats, and based on personal experience such mats tend to cut up pretty quickly when more intensive and explosive movements are done. So the first impression of Decathlon's Fitness Floormat Tonemat Maxi Grip when it comes to material is a good one. I like the texture of the surface, and the smooth surface that does not compromise on grippiness. In my mind, this gives me confidence in executing a variety of movements on the mat without the need to be extra careful not to slip even if I were to perspire and my hands get sweaty. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG The good news is that this grippiness is not limited to just the surface on which my hands and knees made contact, but also extends to the mesh material beneath the mat, which I believe creates decent friction to prevent any slippage across a variety of different floor surfaces. While I did not get to try out a full on burpee or more explosive movements such as box jumps or lateral hops in the yoga class, the mat did a great job across the various movements we did in class - from the downward-dog, to rope work against the wall in which we placed our full body weight at an angle against the floor. All this, without the mat giving way. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG I like the mat for its supportive feel under hand, foot, and knee, its dual-textured sides, firm-yet-cushiony rubber construction, and its decent size given my height of 1.82m. I still found sufficient space to move around easily and pivot without stepping off the mat during my practice. At 8mm in thickness, it is also not overly thick and easily packable. Fun fact, it comes with a dual-looped sling for you to easily slide your mat through to pack up and sling over your shoulder to bring out for your next workout or yoga class. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG Is it an exercise mat that is worthy of investment then? As I have not yet used the mat for an extended period of time or given it the durability test, I am unable to comment on durability. However at just SGD $38, I would consider this a very affordable choice if you are someone who works out regularly and is looking for decent quality without breaking the bank. The mat is far from being on the high end and may not be the top choice for serious yogis or fitness trainers, but having tried out a variety of yoga and exercise mats over the years, I would say it serves its purpose and is better than most mats on a budget. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG While this also largely depends on personal preference, as choices and preferences may range from all-rubber to non-rubber or latex free mats, I personally like this mat enough to give it a 7 out of 10. In this article, we review Decathlon's Self Powered Exercise Bike Domyos EB520 while sharing the health benefits of riding an indoor exercise bike. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG 1. Build Cardiovascular Health and Fitness The obvious benefit of riding an indoor exercise bicycle is that it increases your aerobic fitness and heart health, while building endurance gradually over time. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG 2. Improve Physical Strength, Emotional and Mental Health We all know of the obvious strengthening benefits that riding a bicycle can bring, particularly in building power in your legs: quads, calves, hamstrings and even glutes, but regularly riding an exercise bike also releases those feel good hormones otherwise known as endorphins - thus boosting your emotional and mental health If you don't already have good leg strength from the beginning, the EB520 exercise bike could be an option to help you start that journey more gradually while having the convenience of not needing an electrical outlet. This is because of a motorised, self-powered drivetrain system that features a 6 kg flywheel that is very quiet, which means you get to optimise your pedalling without struggling like crazy while working out. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG 3. Healthy form of Cardio to Lose Weight Fast Struggling to find a form of cardio that doesn't make you feel like dying from the start? An indoor exercise bike is a good bridge for you to start with if you do not already have a very strong base for fitness and are looking to build your way there while losing weight. If you need a coach to help you through this, the EB520 bike console also comes with 6 functions and 7 built-in programmes to guide you on your fitness journey on the exercise bike, while the 15 resistance levels also helps to make it easier for gradual progress. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG 4. Low Impact on the Knees and Joints Those with knee and joint pains may not be able to participate in other forms of exercise like running, but an exercise bike has less impact on your knees which can only be a good thing! The Domyos EB520 bike features a straight, low frame which makes it easier to get on the bike, while the ergonomic design guarantees you a straight posture and a healthy back. The fact that it is height-adjustable for both seat and handlebar also means you can ensure you have good posture while working out, thus reducing the risk of injuries that come with riding in a bad posture. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG 5. Safe Option if You are Not a Strong Cyclist We've read about several cycling accidents in the news - and while we are strong advocates for outdoor cycling, we do believe that if you are not confident to do that from the beginning, riding an indoor exercise bike helps you get familiar with the movements and builds your confidence for transitioning to outdoor cycling. To help you break into cycling as well, the Domyos EB520 bike is designed with a wide, soft seat to make your workouts as pleasant as possible. So what are SportPlus' thoughts after using the Domyos EB520 self-powered exercise bike? Here is what Gene Leck, Singapore national hockey athlete had to say. "In general the bike is not difficult to use at all for beginners. Just by pedalling, the machine switches on and there are many different workout types that you can choose from which makes it easy for any type of user." "The water bottle holder also makes it very convenient because I can easily quench my thirst whilst working out, without having to get off the bike, while the best part I feel is that I can clip on my phone at the top of the display monitor, so watching your favourite K-dramas or videos can make exercise that much more enjoyable." PHOTO: SPORTPLUS.SG Overall Rating At $530, Decathlon's Domyos self powered EB520 bike may not be the priciest on the market, but it also doesn't come cheap. We would therefore classify it as good value for money, given its user friendliness particularly for beginners and also with the extensive set of features that come with it. We would recommend this for those looking to get a quick workout done at home or in the office, or weekend warriors who are just about to start their fitness journey and looking for an easy place to start. Climb Central Katong is the fourth and latest branch to be opened within malls in Singapore, the others are located at Kallang Wave Mall, Funan Mall and Novena Square. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG Designed specially for kids with plenty of interactive elements such as tyres, ropes and custom climbing shapes, the jungle-themed wall is sure to pique their interest. The various elements allow kids to feel like they are scaling the trees of a real forest. Children aged five and weighing at least 20kg will be able to try out this one-of-a-kind wall that will allow them to kickstart their passion for the sport. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG Climb Central is also in the midst of developing a high-element kids rope course which is slated to be opened in August this year. The rope course will feature multiple obstacles that will test the endurance and courage of children while enabling them to develop a taste for adventure. This strengthens Climb Central’s initiative in catering not just to the serious or recreational climber but also to those who wish to start young. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG Climbing enthusiasts can look forward to weekly updates to the route that ensures fresh challenges for those who have mastered the previous ones. With multiple climbing routes catering to different proficiency levels, Climb Central promises fun for those who wish to have a family outing and for those who seek a challenge. The East Coast area has always been special to me, having spent most of my younger years here." PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG "Rock climbing is a sport that has piqued the interest of many over the years and I am extremely proud that we have reduced the barriers of entry to the sport; allowing many to have a taste since our first branch at a shopping mall. Our fourth outlet is different from the previous three with stronger emphasis on making sure that we cater to the young who wish to have a taste of what rock climbing is like." "I hope that Climb Central Katong will become a hub for the young and their families all over Singapore who wish to scale new heights for generations to come." PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG About Climb Asia Group In 2002, three climbers, realising there was no information on climbing routes in Singapore and Malaysia, decided to publish a climbing guidebook themselves.
