  • Mixed Fortunes for Christian Lee and Victoria Lee in ONE: Revolution

Christian Lee loses long-time ONE Lightweight World Title to Ok Rae Yoon, as sibling Victoria Lee continues astronomical rise with win by stoppage over Victoria Souza Image via ONE Championship™ (ONE) 25 September 2021, Singapore - It was a night of mixed fortunes for local favourites Christian Lee and Victoria Lee at ONE: Revolution, as South Korea's Ok Rae Yoon pulled off an upset to strip Christian Lee of his ONE Lightweight World Title in a five-round fight that brought the evening to an epic climax. In what was the first ONE event opened to public with post-vaccination measures, some 500 spectators at the Singapore Indoor Stadium were treated to a stacked card which featured three World Title fights, which was headlined by Christian Lee and Ok Rae Yoon in the ONE: Revolution main event and saw 'The Warrior' Lee surrender his long time world title to Ok, in spite of asking for the result to be overturned in controversial circumstances. Image via ONE Championship™ (ONE) Up to yesterday, Christian Lee had stood on the brink of clearing out the top five contenders in the division, but Korean veteran Ok Rae Yoon, who has already earned himself a reputation of being an upset king, added another big name to his string of conquests having recently earned a hard-fought victory over Eddie Alvarez. Image via ONE Championship™ (ONE) Christian's younger sister Victoria Lee continued her perfect streak after overcoming Brazilian star Victoria Souza to make it 3-0 since she made her ONE bow in February, building on the Lee family's legacy in the Championships and following in the footsteps of her older sister Angela Lee, ONE Women's Atomweight world champion. Undefeated atomweight athlete Victoria Souza was ready to prove why she belongs on the global stage of martial arts in her ONE bow, and said before the event that "all the pressure" was on Lee, which made for an interesting evening with many curious about which way the match-up would go. Christian LEE vs OK Rae Yoon (Ok wins via Unanimous Decision) Ok came out in his usual counterpunching style. Conversely, Lee was fast, sharp, and powerful to start the bout, connecting with a plethora of right hands while scoring on takedowns. Ok weathered the early storm from the young Singaporean-American, and he got stronger as the bout wore on. Image via ONE Championship™ (ONE) In the third round, Ok rocked Lee, sending him reeling across the Circle. A counter right hand from Lee dropped the South Korean, and toward the end of the frame, "The Warrior" took Ok's back and locked in a rear-naked choke under the chin. Image via ONE Championship™ (ONE) The South Korean survived that submission attempt and turned it into a war for the final two rounds, with both men having their moments. In the end, all three judges scored the bout in favor of Ok to win by unanimous decision, as the new ONE Lightweight World Champion hoisted the belt up on his shoulders. Victoria LEE vs Victoria SOUZA (Lee wins via TKO at 3:58 of Round 2) Teenage sensation Victoria Lee moved to 3-0 as a professional mixed martial artist in ONE's atomweight division, earning a TKO victory behind a dominant performance over newcomer Victoria Souza, before insisting that she will "keep on improving" for her next match. Image via ONE Championship™ (ONE) "I feel I've improved since my previous fights, I showcased some of my ground-and-pound skills and tightened up my overall game," said Lee. Lee and Souza traded strikes to open the first round, but it wasn't long before the two atomweights brought the action onto the ground, in a battle which once again saw 'The Prodigy' Lee shine. Image via ONE Championship™ (ONE) In the second round, the 17-year-old unleashed a barrage of elbows from top position to force the stoppage, before punching the air in jubilation after adding her third victory since her debut in February this year. • ONE Championship™ Stars Angela Lee, Christian Lee, Victoria Lee open up ahead of ONE: REVOLUTION

Lee Siblings share their thoughts ahead of their bouts in ONE: REVOLUTION, parenthood, defending titles, and new Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings movie Image via ONE Championship™ (ONE) 9 September 2021, Singapore - Reigning ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion “Unstoppable” Angela Lee, ONE Lightweight World Champion Christian “The Warrior” Lee, and rising atomweight star Victoria “The Prodigy” Lee, spoke to members of the media from all around the world in a special Zoom session beamed live from their home in Mililani, Hawaii yesterday (8 September 2021) at 10am Singapore time. Christian and Victoria discussed their matchups at the upcoming ONE: REVOLUTION, which is scheduled for Friday, 24 September at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. Christian will be defending his lightweight throne against number 3-ranked lightweight contender, Ok Rae Yoon, while Victoria makes her third appearance of the year, this time against Victoria Souza. Footage via ONE Championship™ (ONE) Angela, on the other hand, discussed her thoughts on the recently concluded quarterfinal round of the ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix, being a fighter and how training has changed for her now as a mother, as well as her impending return to the Circle. Touching on how motherhood has been life changing for her and how she's had to adapt, Angela shared: "Motherhood is amazing. It has definitely changed me. It’s different training now. Definitely have to schedule things far in advance. Everything needs to be flexible because of the baby." Image via Championship™ (ONE) "But I’m very excited to get back in there. I’ve started to train again alongside my brother and sister as they get ready for their fights. After this event in September, we are going to be kicking it into gear and getting my fight camp started. I'm very excited about that. I think fighting in February is going to be great for me. It is going to give me even more time to come back even stronger," she added. Her brother Christian Lee, is excited to have his younger sister Victoria share a card with her, saying: "With me being the champion, headlining this event, I'm really excited to have Victoria with me as well. We're going to put on a great show for the fans. I'm excited to be heading to Singapore together with her." Image via Championship™ (ONE) When asked about Eddie Alvarez fighting his way to contention, Christian replied: "That's definitely a fight the fans want to see. All we're really waiting for is for Eddie to win a fight, and then we'll make it happen. I'm not looking past Ok Rae Yoon, at all. But once I get past my next opponent and defend my belt, then I'm looking forward to seeing what Eddie can do in the division." Newcomer and rising star Victoria is understandably excited ahead of her bout at the end of this month. Slowly easing her way into the competition as she gains more experience, she opined: "Going into my third bout, I feel more comfortable. There’s a lot less 'newness' to everything. I feel that I have been able to improve on my second camp and this camp has been going on smoothly." Image via ONE Championship™ (ONE) Victoria is also definitely not underestimating her opponent Victoria Souze, adding: "I think that my next opponent is tough. She has a 5-0 record and I think it is going to be an exciting match because we are both finishers and I don’t think it is going to go the distance. For this match, I plan on finishing her in the first round." Tickets to watch ONE: REVOLUTION live at the Singapore Indoor Stadium will be available for purchase on Wednesday, 8 September, 10:00 am Singapore time. • Amir Khan physically, mentally and spiritually at One with Himself: ONE X Preview

Singaporean MMA star ready to make his comeback to the Cage at ONE X after being sidelined by physical and personal setbacks Amir Khan is ready to make his comeback at ONE X. PHOTO: JOHN YEONG, SPORTPLUS.SG Having lost his father and number one supporter to brain cancer in late 2020, Singapore MMA pro fighter Amir Khan's woes were compounded when he tore his ligament just half a year later during grappling practise, an injury which saw him sidelined for 8 months. A fighter in every sense, even then Khan chose to turn his misfortunes into opportunity, using that down time to embark on a personal journey to figure out who he really was and is now returning with a renewed sense of purpose. Rebuilding His Reputation Having fully healed and grown wiser, Khan says he is now "integrated physically, mentally and spiritually", and is ready to bring his A-game to ONE's highly anticipated MMA event of the year on 26 March 2022, ONE X, to rebuild his reputation as the martial arts championship's top knockout artist. With a new found drive and hunger to win, the 27 year-old is fully focused on the task at hand, choosing not to look any further than next Saturday's Lead Card Featherweight bout against Shooto Pacific Rim Featherweight Champion Ryogo Takahashi. Amir Khan training at EVOLVE MMA gym ahead of the ONE X event on 26 March 2022 PHOTO: JOHN YEONG, SPORTPLUS.SG Said Khan: "I did lay out plans for 2022, but my first match is Takahashi, the rest will come later." "In order for me to reach my long term goals, I need to execute the short term ones first so if you ask me right now, I am only focused on next Saturday," said Khan. Sharing with SportPlus.sg how he has done plenty of reflection over a tough two years away from the spotlight, Khan insists he has never been in a healthier position to make a comeback. The Singaporean Muay Thai champion added that he is currently at one with himself, which will translate really well going into the cage as martial arts requires one to be able to fully express oneself, and the series of events have served him well. "He always wants me to figure things out, and right now I don't have his hand to hold me so I took this opportunity and went on my journey. I'm feeling confident and looking forward to next Saturday." Watch Amir Khan make his comeback against Japanese opponent Ryogo Takahashi, in the Lead Card Featherweight bout of ONE's tenth anniversary event, ONE X. • Deloitte Women's Premier League 2022: Tiong Bahru FC 4-1 Hougang United

Ruthless Tiong Bahru FC destroy Hougang United for first WPL win of the season Tiong Bahru FC's Clara Lau (right) in action during the Deloitte WPL match against Hougang United. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG Singapore, 6 June 2022 - Hougang United were beaten 4-1 by Tiong Bahru FC at their training ground, St Wilfred on Sunday in the second week of the Deloitte Women’s Premier League. The win hands Tiong Bahru their first three points of the season as they move up to second place in the table. It was goals galore in the first half which ended 3-1 in Tiong Bahru's favour as goals from Reneelyn Sison, Wang Zhenzhu, and Jacklyn Lee gave the home side the lead, with a solitary goal from Foo Shini giving the Cheetahs a brief glimmer of hope for the second period. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG Despite dominating the opening 45 minutes, Tiong Bahru FC's attacks were thwarted by a stubborn Hougang rearguard, resulting in countless corners for Lawrence Lee’s side as the pressure began to mount on Hougang. Some say if you keep asking the right questions you would eventually find your answer, and Tiong Bahru FC found theirs in the 20th minute when Sison's far post shot found its way into the back of the net for the all important breakthrough goal, and the first of five to come in this fixture. Hougang United's Peh Chin Ee (in white) fires through a sea of Tiong Bahru FC defenders. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG The Cheetahs knew they had to make their chances count, and from one such counter attack just three minutes later Hougang drew level. Peh Chin Ee’s shot was blocked, and the ball found its way to Foo who caught the ball sweetly from range and into the top corner. The Hougang bench erupted in cheers as the newly formed team scored their first club goal. Tiong Bahru FC's Nur Raudhah Kamis (right) holding her ground as she makes her way to the byline. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG Not long after, Peh had a chance to put her team into the lead as she found herself chasing for the ball with no defender in sight. Her only problem was that Tiong Bahru’s Audrey Cheong had come out of her goal to challenge Peh for the ball. Cheong slid in and won fairly. Calls for a penalty were ignored and a minute later, Tiong Bahru made it 2-1. Hougang goalkeeper Gladys Cheng misread Wang’s shot from outside the 18-yard-box and the ball bounced up and over her and into the net. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG Four minutes before the break, Lee scored a third for her side as she volleyed the ball onto the underside of the crossbar and into the net as Tiong Bahru took a stranglehold of the match. The Cheetahs came out of the half time break looking stronger, and Dhaniyah Qasimah’s free kick from the wing very nearly crept into the far post and the attacks looked more well organised but as dangerous as they were, so were Tiong Bahru. She ran onto a promising long ball, but Cheng’s save kept the two-goal deficit. However, two turned to three in the 66th minute when Winette Lee’s cleanly struck free kick gave the game its final goal. • Deloitte Women's Premier League 2022: Lion City Sailors 4-1 Albirex Niigata

An Izzati brace and goals from Dorcas Chu and Madison Telmer get Sailors Women off to perfect start in Deloitte Women's Premier League Lion City Sailors women celebrate their opening day win against Albirex Niigata at Yishun Stadium. PHOTO: LION CITY SAILORS FC Singapore, 6 June 2022 - Lion City Sailors kicked off their Deloitte Women's Premier League campaign with a convincing 4-1 defeat of Albirex Niigata in a highly anticipated match-up at Yishun Stadium. Familiar chants of Albirex fans from last weekend returned, but the voices that echoed around the Yishun Stadium grounds were met with rival voices from passionate Lion City Sailors fans this week who sang for almost the full 90 minutes. Goals from Nur Izzati (2), Dorcas Chu and Madison Telmer for the Sailors sealed all three points and inflicted a second defeat for the White Swans, who responded through Nadhra Aqilah, scoring for the second match on the trot. Nur Izzati scores into an empty net with the Albirex keeper stranded in the Sailors' win against Albirex Niigata at Yishun Stadium. PHOTO: LION CITY SAILORS FC Early scare for Albirex The match’s first chance on goal fell for The Sailors when Sara Merican’s cross very nearly crept into goal. The ball pinged off the bar and fell perfectly for Miray Altun. Her shot was saved brilliantly from point blank range by Maisarah Rahmat. With 15 minutes to go in the first half, Sit Nor Aqilah was brought on to replace Nur Sarah Zu’risqha after the latter clashed heads with The Sailors’s Telmer. The Albirex forward stayed down for a worrying amount of time before walking off on her own. Telmer however, was cleared to continue after having her head wrapped. Lion City Sailors 's Dorcas Chu celebrates her goal with her Sailors teammates. PHOTO: LION CITY SAILORS FC Izzati breaks the deadlock Chu’s high pressing eventually caused problems for Maisarah who was unable to keep hold of the ball. While lying on the ground, Chu managed to lay the ball off for Izzati who finished it off into an empty net to make it 1-0. It did not take long for them to extend their lead after the start of the second half despite Albirex’s strong start. Chu got her goal this time after setting up the first as a through ball was played into the box. The forward put it past the keeper clinically. The Sailors made it 3-0 in the 67th minute but not without some drama. Nur Umairah delivered a dangerous free kick from the right flank into a sea of white and orange. Telmer got her head on it, but the goal was ruled offside. The first official overruled the decision after a short discussion with his linesman and ultimately awarded the goal. Lion City Sailors women turned in a dominant performance on the opening day of their campaign in the Deloitte Women's Premier League. PHOTO: LION CITY SAILORS FC Clinical Nadhra reduces deficit for Albirex The White Swans clawed a goal back with 10 minutes left through Nadhra, who had been terrorising the left wing for most of the second half. Tracing Noralinda Wahab’s free kick delivery carefully all the way, she timed her jump well and headed the ball, watching it dip into the net leaving Beatrice Tan no chance. Noralinda then had her own chance to make it 3-2 but Munirah Mohamad’s last-ditch tackle was well timed. Lion City Sailors got their fourth and final goal through Izzati who pounced on a mistake by Maisarah. Facing an open goal, the striker finished it off calmly with a no look shot. Lion City Sailors fans in full voice at Yishun Stadium. PHOTO: LION CITY SAILORS FC Like last weekend against Tanjong Pagar, Albirex put up a good fight and never seemed to back down despite the scoreline. However, the highly experienced Lion City Sailors squad, many of whom represented Singapore at the SEA Games, was too much for Albirex to handle. The Sailors face Balestier Khalsa next week while Albirex Niigata return the following week, also against The Tigresses. More photos from the match available in SportPlus.sg's photo gallery here. • Deloitte Women's Premier League 2022: Albirex Niigata 1-2 Tanjong Pagar United

Late goal by Nadhra Aqilah not enough for Albirex as Tanjong Pagar United claim first WPL win of season Tanjong Pagar United's Manami Fukuzawa holds off a challenge from Suriati Sonny of Albirex Niigata. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG Singapore, 29 May 2022 - The Women's Premier League made its much anticipated return yesterday following a two year absence, with a first ever title sponsor in Deloitte, a milestone for the local women's game. Albirex Niigata and Tanjong Pagar United clashed in an early 5pm kick-off at Yishun Stadium, with the first three points of the season at stake, as the two clubs kicked off this season’s top flight league for Singapore women’s football. Tanjong Pagar United players celebrate Manami Fukuzawa's opening goal. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG The two teams did not disappoint, delivering a thrilling season opener which Tanjong Pagar United eventually won 2-1. A first half goal by Manami Fukuzawa meant that the Jaguars led at the break, before Farah Nurzahirah doubled the visitors' lead. Facing her former side, Albirex Niigata's Nadhra Aqilah eventually found the back of the net against her old club, but it proved scant consolation and insufficient for the White Swans. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG Tanjong Pagar United could have gone ahead as early as 11 minutes when they were awarded a penalty kick, with Maisarah Rahmat knocking into a red shirt in the air while trying to grab hold of the ball, which saw the Albirex custodian booked. She redeemed herself after conceding the penalty however, diving at full stretch to parry the resulting spot kick away. Tanjong Pagar United's pressure eventually told however, as Fukuzawa found the breakthrough in the 33rd minute when a cross was accidentally flicked onto her path by Albirex’s skipper, Tina Afrida Nasmi. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG Despite almost straying offside, Fukuzawa controlled the ball well and struck it on a half-volley into the top left-hand corner to give her side the advantage. Five minutes later, the White Swans had their first real chance of the match and an equaliser beckoned. However, following a well delivered cross from the right, Nadhra Aqilah saw her strike just outside the six-yard box pummeling off the bar. In the 54th minute, Farah found the back of the net as Albirex failed to clear their lines in the penalty box. The Tanjong Pagar forward proceeded to pounce on the mistake and made it 2-0. Despite Albirex getting some shots in, the match began to settle and quitened down with Tanjong Pagar United goalkeeper collecting most attempts smoothly without trouble. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG The White Swans finally got on the scoresheet in the 68th minute, and it was a real poacher's goal from Nadhra Aqilah. A dangerous freekick from the left was delivered too close to the keeper who fumbled the ball in the air. Nadhra clinically finished it off despite the best efforts of Tanjong Pagar United defenders. From then on, The White Swans set up camp in the Tanjong Pagar half, dominating the remainder of the match, as Tanjong Pagar sat deep to soak up pressure, throwing extra bodies behind the defence. had most of their players back to help the defense. No room for error, as both teams contest a set piece in the Deloitte Women's Premier League season opener. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG Albirex Niigata nearly got the elusive equaliser when a corner almost turned into a goal but the ball was volleyed off the line. The Jaguars ultimately resorted to game management tactics to hold on to their slender lead and see out the match. Albirex will have to look for their first WPL win next week when they face the well rested Lion City Sailors, who did not play this weekend while Tanjong Pagar will be hoping to continue their winning form against Balestier Khalsa. • Deloitte Women's Premier League 2022: Balestier Khalsa 0-0 Tiong Bahru FC

Balestier Khalsa and Tiong Bahru Football Club share the spoils in goalless stalemate Balestier Khalsa's Seri holds off a challenge from Tiong Bahru FC's Angeline Pang. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG Singapore, 29 May 2022 - Balestier Khalsa took on Tiong Bahru FC in the second game of the night at Yishun Stadium on the opening day of the Deloitte Women's Premier League season. After watching Tanjong Pagar United secure the first three points of a landmark season in Singapore women’s football just minutes before their kickoff, the two teams were hungry to follow suit and end the opening day with something to celebrate but did not have luck in front of goal as the match ended goalless despite some clear chances to break the deadlock. Balestier Khalsa goalkeeper Hazel Lim's heroics in goal earned her the Woman-of-the-Match, earning her first clean sheet of the season. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG Following a slow start to the match, in which Tiong Bahru FC dominated possession, the match suddenly came to life when a penalty was awarded. A rash moment saw Nur Syafiqah Peer sliding in to get the ball away, only for her stray foot to catch Monessha Nair who went down and won her side a penalty. Angelyn Pang stepped up to the spot, but her shot pinged off the bar. Tiong Bahru FC's Wang Zhen Zhu dictacting the tempo in the middle of the park. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG Tiong Bahru had another chance at goal just four minutes later. Nair’s pass found Raudha Khamis who cut inside her marker. Her shot could not find the right side of the post though, hitting the outer side netting, a first of a series of guilt edged chances which Tiong Bahru FC was unable to finish off as the game went on. Tigress goalkeeper Hazel Lim had plenty to do in the second half and made consecutive saves that would ultimately win her woman-of-the-match. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG After looking the more aggressive of the two the whole duration of the game, Tiong Bahru FC had their best chance on goal in the 63rd minute but it was Hazel Lim who again kept her side in the game. Raudhah’s delivery into the box was flicked on and landed perfectly for Jacklyn Lee near the far post. Hazel Lim snuffed out the danger in time as she rushed forward to block Lee's shot before Winnette Lim’s effort on the rebound drifted wide to Balestier’s relief. Clara Lau then had another attempt on goal with a sweetly struck shot, but it was up and over the bar. Reneelyn Riddle of Tiong Bahru FC (front) looks to escape the attentions of her marker. PHOTO: HANA BASIR, SPORTPLUS.SG With 20 minutes to go, tired legs were apparent as Balestier’s loose pass in their penalty box found an unmarked Raudhah of Tiong Bahru FC. Her shot was on target but again met with the safe hands of Hazel Lim who snuffed out the danger by diving over to collect the ball. Tiong Bahru Football Club were made to rue their missed chances on the night, but will look to go again next week as they go up against fresh faces Hougang United at St Wilfrid Sports Complex while Balestier Khalsa will clash with Tanjong Pagar United at Yishun Stadium off the back of their opening day win. • SPL 2022: Tanjong Pagar United 4-2 Tampines Rovers

Noh Alam Shah’s men prove too strong for visiting Stags at the Jurong East Stadium Tanjong Pagar United's Nishiguchi celebrates his goal against Tampines Rovers. PHOTO: AIA SINGAPORE PREMIER LEAGUE Singapore, 28 May 2022 - Following Friday night’s 8-2 scoreline at the Jurong East Stadium, fans hoped for a similar display as Tanjong Pagar United Football Club took on Tampines Rovers Football Club. The crowd’s wait for a goal didn’t take too long as 5 minutes into the game, Akram Azmans’s pressure on Taufiq Suparno on the edge of the Stag’s penalty box saw the ball find its way to Reo Nishiguichi, who attempted a first-time shot that found its way inside Syazwan Buhari’s left side post. Stags spurred into life That goal spurred the Stags back to life as they went on the offensive with Ryan Sanizal delivering a dangerous cross into the box, which found the head of Boris Kopitovic, who placed it wide. Kyoga Nakamura had his long-range effort stinging the gloves of Rohaizad, who recently got called up to the national team squad ahead of this match. It was a case of Tanjong Pagar soaking up the pressure from the Stags whilst counter-attacking when they had possession. That tactic did seem to work, as, after 20 minutes, Blake Ricciuto fed an overhead ball to Reo Nishiguici, who took it down and shaped a low driven cross that found the feet of an oncoming Rusyaidi Salime’s right foot, who guided his shot to the far left corning of the net making it 2-0. But that 2 goal lead only lasted a minute when Firdaus Kasman found himself at the right place at the right time when he latched onto a loose ball after a scramble from a Zehrudin Mehmedovic’s corner in the Jaguar’s penalty box and fired his shot into the net to the delight of the travelling supporters. They felt a comeback was on the cards. Frustration written all over the faces of Tampines Rovers players. PHOTO: AIA SINGAPORE PREMIER LEAGUE Catastrophic Defending However, the man of the match, Reo Nishiguichi, wasn’t having it as 11 minutes later, the Tanjong Pagar’s number 9 found the ball at his feet after some catastrophic defending from the away team. The Japanese striker dropped his shoulder and fired a low driven shot past a helpless Buhari's right-hand side to make it 3-1. Once again, though, the boys from the East showed no signs of giving up as Mehmedovic made hit 3-2 with a carbon copy goal as the one scored earlier by Rushaiidi. The Serbian midfielder was on the receiving end of a well-driven cross from Irfan Najeeb. The Stag’s playmaker made no mistake with a side-foot finish, and we are back to 3-2, Game On! Or is it? In the 38th minute, Sugic was fouled in the middle of the pitch. After a long wait of orchestrating his free-kick, Raihan Rahman sent in a floated ball that found the head of Riccuito, whose cushioned header into the danger area found an unexpected Shodai Nishikawa, who leapt between two Stags defenders to divert the ball into the back of the net. 4-2 to the boys in red and white. Tanjong Pagar United's Rusyaidi Salime slides to score his team's second goal of the match against Tampines Rovers. PHOTO: AIA SINGAPORE PREMIER LEAGUE With this much action in the first half, the fans felt like they would be treated to another goal-fest. Sadly that was not the case. Both teams came out at halftime, with the Stags doing everything they could to get themselves on the scoresheet. At the same time, the rock steady defence of the Jaguars in the form of Faritz Abdul Hameed, Daniel Bennett and Raihan Rahman showed a masterclass in keeping their team’s lead safe. Even with the likes of Christopher Van Huizen and Marc Ryan Tan, who came on to insert some pace into the Stag’s attack and with the Stag’s fans cheering them on, nothing was going right for the Stags. Tampines Rovers hitman Kopitovic had to endure a frustrating afternoon at the office. PHOTO: AIA SINGAPORE PREMIER LEAGUE Quiet Day for Kopitovic Boris Kopitovic was having a very quiet day in the office with limited supply in the middle, and it begs to wonder how much the Stags miss their influential captain Yasir Hanapi who could only watch the match from the stands. The Stags had their opportunities, with Kopitovic seeing his header saved by Zharfan Rohaizad in the 75th minute and Mehmedovic watching his shot blazed over the bar a minute later. The game's final chance went to the Jaguars when substitute Fathullah Rahmat saw his effort hit the post in the 90th minute. With this win, third place Tanjong Pagar creates a four point gap from chasing Tampines Rovers, who have a game in hand. In the other fixture, Hougang United Football Club secured a 3-1 victory against Balestier Khalsa with Kaishu Yamasaki, Hafiz Abu Sugar and Kristijian Krajček for the Cheetahs. At the same time, Shuhei Hoshino scored for the Tigers.
