Two Fathers, One Mission: Balancing Family, Careers and Elite Competition, the Singapore Duo Chase HYROX World Championship Personal Bests

As the global HYROX community converges on Stockholm’s iconic Strawberry Arena for the 2026 PUMA HYROX World Championships, two familiar faces from Singapore’s rapidly growing hybrid fitness scene will proudly carry the nation’s flag onto one of the sport’s biggest stages.
For Kenneth Seet and Lim Jia Jun, qualifying for the World Championships was never guaranteed. Both are fathers, professionals, coaches, and athletes juggling packed schedules, family commitments, and relentless training blocks. Yet through discipline, partnership, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, they have earned their place among the world's best in the Men’s Pro Doubles division.
The Moment Everything Changed
Their journey to Stockholm began nearly a year ago when they secured victory and a coveted World Championship qualification slot.
For Kenneth, the achievement exceeded even his own expectations.
“I actually couldn’t believe it. I knew that we were in good shape and would do a good time, but to come in first and qualify for the World Championships in the first race of the season was a huge bonus.”
Jia Jun recalls the moment with equal disbelief. “It was a surreal moment and a testament to all the hard work and training that we had put in together leading up to the race. I didn’t even realise that we had qualified for the World Championships until moments later.”
What followed was a year of growth, racing experience, and refinement as they continued competing together across local and international HYROX events.

Built on Discipline and Trust
Ask either athlete what makes their partnership work, and the answer goes far beyond fitness.
“The most important thing is that both of us have similar mindsets and attitudes,” says Kenneth. “We will put in all the work needed and work extremely hard to get what we want and to be the best versions of ourselves.”
Jia Jun agrees, pointing to discipline as the foundation of their success.
“Both of us being fathers and having our own life and work commitments, we had to prioritise our workouts and what we needed to focus on each session. Doubles racing requires both of us to play according to our strengths, and that’s what we focused on.”
That shared understanding has translated into a formidable doubles partnership. Their race strategies are carefully planned around individual strengths, while years of training and competing together have built the chemistry required to make split-second decisions during competition.
“We focus on pre-planned work splits based on strengths, rather than a blind 50-50 split,” Kenneth explains. “We communicate well during the race and adjust based on how each of us are feeling.”

More Than Personal Achievement
While qualifying for a World Championship is a milestone for any athlete, both men recognise the significance of representing Singapore on the international stage.
For Kenneth, the experience has fundamentally changed his perspective.
“The reality of qualifying for the World Championships has changed my mindset from being driven by personal milestones to embracing the immense privilege of representing Singapore on the global stage.”
The veteran athlete also hopes his journey resonates with everyday Singaporeans. “I’m just an ordinary dad with a full-time job, but if you are committed to something, anything is possible.”
For Jia Jun, competing at a World Championship remains a dream he is still processing. “First World Championships, so it’s definitely still something that I haven’t gotten over. The standards of racing in HYROX have improved massively in the past year, and that has challenged me to better myself and make sure we can give it a good run against the best in the world.”
The Grind Behind the Scenes
Their preparation for Stockholm has been anything but straightforward.
Kenneth spent the latter part of 2025 rehabilitating an injury before rebuilding his fitness through a combination of HYROX-specific work and marathon training.
“We focused a lot on our engine and strength,” he says. “I’m also currently in the middle of a marathon training block, which I believe will help my overall engine and fitness.”
Jia Jun’s preparation has been equally methodical. Having already completed multiple HYROX events this season, including a demanding triple-race weekend at HYROX Singapore, he has been able to fine-tune his training approach heading into the championship.
“We’ve had two races this year as a lead-up to the World Championships and managed to test what works for us and what doesn’t,” he explains.
Balancing elite-level training with family and professional responsibilities remains one of their greatest challenges.
Kenneth admits there have been plenty of early mornings and sleep-deprived sessions. “Some days, due to work, I’m surviving a hard training session at 5am on four to five hours of sleep. It hasn’t been easy. But consistency is the most important act. Showing up day in and day out—that’s where progress is made.”
Jia Jun credits strong support systems and adaptability. “A supportive wife, prioritising my time, and it definitely helps that I work in a gym. I also emphasise listening to my body and being flexible with my training.”

Ready for the Biggest Stage
The PUMA HYROX World Championships will transform Stockholm’s Strawberry Arena into the epicentre of global hybrid racing, with thousands of spectators and the sport’s fastest athletes under one roof.
Neither athlete is intimidated by the occasion. “Run our own race,” Kenneth says simply. “We’ll be racing with the best in the world, so we have to stick to our paces and not blindly follow the crowd.”
For Jia Jun, the atmosphere is something to embrace rather than fear. “You live for these moments. Being a former national wushu athlete and having to compete in front of a crowd all alone, the adrenaline is something that helps me race hard and do the best that we possibly can.”
As for race-day goals, both remain grounded. “We can never change how our competitors do,” Jia Jun says. “We can only focus on bettering our own times. A personal best from our previous race would be great.”
Kenneth shares a similar outlook.
“I really just want to soak up the atmosphere, empty the tank, leave it all out on the floor, and do Singapore proud.”

Flying the Flag for Singapore
Beyond their own performance, Kenneth and Jia Jun recognise that their appearance in Stockholm represents the continued rise of HYROX and hybrid fitness in Singapore.
The local community has expanded dramatically in recent years, with growing participation, stronger competition, and increasing international representation.
“It’s amazing to see the sport growing not just globally but also in Singapore,” says Jia Jun. “We are blessed to be able to represent the country at this upcoming World Championships, and I believe there will be a much bigger representation from Singapore next season.”
For Kenneth, the message is simple.
“As long as you put your mind to something and work hard, you will be able to achieve your goals.”
When they step onto the competition floor in Stockholm, they will be chasing personal bests and testing themselves against the world’s elite. But they will also be carrying the hopes of a growing Singaporean HYROX community—one that sees in Kenneth Seet and Lim Jia Jun proof that dedication, discipline, and partnership can take ordinary people to extraordinary places. #HYROXWorld #HYROXSG #KennethSeet #LimJiaJun
