BANGKOK, THAILAND, 15 AUGUST 2026 — The countdown to the ASICS META : Time : Trials Thailand 2026 is officially on, as some of the region’s fastest road runners descend on Bangkok ahead of one of Southeast Asia’s most anticipated 10KM road races.
With race day now less than 24 hours away, athletes from across Southeast Asia and the wider Asian region came together on Saturday morning for a relaxed 4KM shakeout run through the streets of Bangkok, starting and finishing at the King Rama I Monument.
The pre-race session offered a markedly different atmosphere from the racing that awaits on Sunday. Athletes were divided into regional groups before setting off from 7.30am, with runners from Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines and other participating markets sharing the roads ahead of their final preparations for race day.
Following the run, athletes cooled down before taking part in activities led by ASICS Running Club Thailand, followed by a Rise & Shine breakfast.
But when the sun rises — or, more accurately, before it does — on Sunday morning, the mood will shift from camaraderie to competition.

ASICS META : Time : Trials Returns Bigger in 2026
Taking place on Sunday, 16 August 2026, this year’s ASICS META : Time : Trials Thailand will see an expected 5,500 runners tackle a 10KM course starting and finishing at Rama 8 Bridge & Park in Bangkok.
The field will comprise both Invitational and Open categories, bringing some of Asia’s leading road-running talent onto the same event platform as thousands of everyday runners chasing their own personal bests.
The scale of the 2026 edition represents another major step in the evolution of META : Time : Trials.

Inspired by the original META : Time : Trials in Malaga, the regional concept debuted in Thailand in 2022 with just 300 participants. It expanded to Malaysia with 3,000 runners in 2023 before returning to Thailand in 2024. Participation grew again to 4,500 in 2025 and is expected to exceed 5,500 runners this year.
More significantly, ASICS META : Time : Trials Thailand 2026 is now officially accredited with a World Athletics Road Race Label, further strengthening its position on the regional road-running calendar.
From a 300-runner pilot to a World Athletics-labelled 10KM, the event has rapidly developed into a flagship regional race.

A Faster, More Competitive Invitational Field
Competition at the sharp end promises to be fierce.
For 2026, ASICS has introduced qualifying standards for the Invitational category, with men required to run sub-36 minutes and women sub-42 minutes.
The men’s field includes athletes carrying personal bests well inside the 30-minute barrier. China’s Xiangbo Zhao enters with a listed PB of 29:41, alongside compatriot Yi Su at 29:42 and Korea’s Seungho Baek at 29:46.70. Indonesia’s Rikki Marthin Luther Simbolon is another sub-30-minute runner on the start list with a 29:54.64 best.
The depth continues throughout the field, with runners representing the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Nepal and other Asian markets.

Singapore will also be represented across the Invitational field, including Richard Heng, Ahmad Arif Ibrahim, Shohib Marican, Raymond Sng, Jon Lim and Evan Tang.
The women’s race promises similar regional depth. Vietnam's Thi Ngoc Hoa Hoang carries a 35:30 PB, while Hong Kong's Leanne Szeto enters with a 35:57 best. The field also features athletes from the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.
Singapore’s contingent includes Shing Ling Goh and Serena Teoh in the Invitational category, alongside A-Racers Cloey Wong, Vanessa Sam and Janelle Lum across the Invitational and Open fields.

A-Racers and Athlete-Pacers Bring a New Dimension
Beyond outright race honours, the 2026 edition also places greater emphasis on connecting elite performance with the wider running community.
META : Time : Trials will serve as a platform for the regional ASICS A-Racer programme, with A-Racers appearing across the men’s and women’s fields.
Selected athletes will also take on Athlete-Pacer duties in the Open category, helping everyday runners pursue achievable time goals while recreating elements of an elite race-day experience.
Among the listed targets are sub-38 and sub-40 minutes for the men, while the women’s field includes Athlete-Pacers targeting sub-45 minutes.
It reinforces an idea at the heart of META : Time : Trials: while only a select few will race at the very front, the clock provides every runner with an opponent of their own.

Bangkok Ready for an Early-Morning 10KM Showdown
There will be little time for a Sunday morning lie-in.
Athletes are scheduled to arrive at the race venue from 3.30am before warming up and reporting to the start line between 4.40am and 4.50am.
At 5.00am on Sunday, 16 August, ASICS META : Time : Trials Thailand 2026 will officially get underway.
The race will be followed by winner interviews and an awards ceremony, before the Invitational men’s and women’s winners return for one of the event’s more symbolic moments — welcoming the final finisher home.
It is a fitting reflection of what the event has grown to represent.

From a small regional experiment in 2022 to a World Athletics-labelled 10KM race featuring 5,500 runners, META : Time : Trials has become a meeting point for elite athletes, rising regional racers, running communities and everyday athletes united by one simple objective: find your speed.
Saturday morning was about loosening the legs, reconnecting with familiar faces and soaking in Bangkok.
On Sunday morning, the stopwatch starts.
ASICS META : Time : Trials Thailand 2026 takes place on 16 August 2026 at Rama 8 Bridge & Park, Bangkok, with the 10KM race flagging off at 5.00am. #ASICSMETATimeTrials #FindYourSpeed
