July 19, 2025, Singapore — Just two weeks after rewriting Singapore’s national 5KM records on the international stage in Gold Coast, national distance runners Vanessa Lee and Shaun Goh have once again stamped their authority on the local distance running scene—this time at the 2.4KM Pocari Sweat National Championships.

Vanessa Lee clinches top spot in Women’s Championships

In the Women’s 2.4KM event, all eyes were on Vanessa Lee—and she did not disappoint. Lee stormed to victory with a scintillating time of 7:51.48, making her move in the fifth round to overtake her coach and teammate Nicole Low who had been leading the pack until that point.

Her performance not only secured the national title but also reaffirmed her dominance in Singapore’s middle-distance running scene.

Behind Lee, Nicole Low claimed second place with a strong finish of 8:13.65, while Romaine Soh rounded out the podium in 8:31.18.

Lee’s achievement comes just 14 days after she set a new national record in the 5KM in Gold Coast—marking July 2025 as a historic month in her already decorated career.

Shaun Goh Wins Men’s Title in Thrilling Finish

Not to be outdone, Shaun Goh captured the Men’s 2.4KM crown with an impressive time of 6:50.69, narrowly missing the championship record of 6:50.31 held by Jeevanesh S/O Soundarajah. Goh’s consistent pacing and explosive finish edged out national marathoner Rui Yong Soh, who clocked 6:54.96, and rising talent Bigyan Limbu, who came in third at 6:55.80.

As the national sporting community turns its focus to the upcoming SEA Games in December, Vanessa Lee and Shaun Goh are names that fans and selectors alike will be watching closely.

While Singapore's athletes may still trail behind some of the region's power houses in distance running, their message is clear: records are meant to be broken—and judging by this performance they’re just getting started. #SingaporeAthletics #PocariSweatChallenge2025
