The Great Eastern Women’s Run (GEWR) 2025 is just around the corner, and in the lead-up to the iconic event on 9 November 2025, Great Eastern has once again showcased the incredible strength, spirit, and sisterhood of women through The Great 117 fitness challenge.

Held exclusively for registered participants of GEWR, The Great 117 brought together 181 women in an adrenaline-charged test of endurance, power, and determination. Participants tackled five high-intensity fitness stations – Battle Rope, Shuttle Run, Kettle Bell Swing, Box Jump, and Reaction Wall – each designed to push physical limits while fostering camaraderie and motivation among women.

A Celebration of Community and Empowerment

This year’s edition saw a meaningful new chapter with the participation of spirited young athletes from Victoria Junior College (VJC), joining women from all walks of life in an empowering community fitness experience. Their involvement reflects Great Eastern’s ongoing commitment to supporting women across generations, empowering both seasoned runners and emerging student athletes to thrive through sport.

In fact, GEWR 2025 will feature an inaugural tertiary category, providing a platform for young athletes to compete, grow, and build confidence while running alongside the wider community. This addition reinforces GEWR’s role not only as a premier women’s sporting event but also as a nurturing ground for future talent.

Women Inspiring Women: Stories of Strength

Among the standout participants was Teo Hui Hsien (31), the overall champion of The Great 117. Sharing her personal reflections, Teo highlighted the Reaction Wall as her favorite challenge:

“It pushes me without too much strain. For this year’s Great Eastern Women’s Run, I’m taking on the 5km at my own pace, focusing on strength training like kettlebell swings and jumps to keep my legs strong. My advice to women, especially those over 60, is to set a clear target—age is never a restriction. Fitness is about consistency and finding what works for you.”

Her words echo the essence of both The Great 117 and GEWR – that fitness is not about competition alone, but about resilience, balance, and the joy of moving together as a community.

GEWR 2025: More Than Just a Run

The Great Eastern Women’s Run 2025 continues to stand as Asia’s largest all-women’s run, celebrating diversity, inclusivity, and the unbreakable bonds of sisterhood. With categories ranging from fun runs to competitive distances, and now the brand-new tertiary division, GEWR offers something for every woman – whether she’s taking her first steps into fitness or chasing a personal best.

The success of The Great 117 is a powerful prelude to November’s race, reminding us that when women come together, the results are inspiring: stronger bodies, stronger bonds, and a stronger community. #GEWR2025 #ReachForGreat
