Skechers' new GOrun iterations improve upon the design from previous generations and seek to help runners attain a higher level of performance during their runs

If you are an avid runner looking to buy a new pair of shoes, Skechers may not be one of your first choices. However, the new Skechers Performance Range with the Skechers GOrun Razor 4 and the Skechers GOrun Speed Beast may just change your mind.

Both shoes feature comfort and performance technology such as a unique carbon-infused winglet plate within the HYPER BURST PRO™ cushioning midsole, the HYPER ARC™ rocker bottom, and the Goodyear® Performance Outsole.

Skechers GOrun Speed Beast
High-cushioned and ultra-lightweight performance
The Skechers GOrun Speed Beast was assessed by John and Melissa, and is recommended for fast and longer runs, such as full marathons. Designed to be a high-cushioned, ultra-lightweight performance pair of racing shoes for the most demanding runners, they aim to deliver a quick turnover with running economy in mind.

“Belonging in the max cushioned shoe category, I was pleasantly surprised by Skechers' GOrun Speed Beast performance shoes. To be honest I didn't come into this with any expectations as I've never worn Skechers running shoes before this. I can feel the cushioning, and the carbon-infused winglet plates (part of the midsole) particularly when I open up my strides. It has a bit of a rocker effect as well, between heel and toe, and that gives a bit of an extra bounce even while walking,” John shared.
“I would say this pair of shoes would be better for regular runners and not beginners, who may find the rocker effect and stack height of 40mm somewhat foreign.”

Comfort technology with an effortless stride
The unique midsole is formed using a “Super Critical” process where spherically shaped cells are compressed into the midsole for higher resiliency while retaining its lightweight properties for an effortless stride and responsive energy return with every step.
Having brought this pair of shoes out for a 21km half-marathon, he did not experience any blisters, chafing or discomfort throughout his run.
Likewise for Melissa, the shoes provided a smooth ride over the 30km mileage she has covered so far. With her longest tempo run of 18km, the shoes remained comfortable with a wide toe box that accommodated her bunions.

“It was extremely comfortable when running and yet lightweight which was perfect for my long run. Especially towards the end when my legs felt heavier as they got more tired, and I needed all the help I could get to not drag my feet!” she shared.
Retailing at $239, the Skechers GOrun Speed Beast is only available in the green/orange colourway as pictured. Other features include a lightweight, strong, and breathable hyper mono mesh upper for added comfort and support.
“To be honest I can’t find anything bad about this pair except maybe I would prefer it in a less striking colour combo,” said Melissa.

Superior comfort and performance technology
The Skechers GOrun Razor 4 was assessed by Chermaine and Ivan. Suitable for half-marathons, the Skechers GOrun Razor 4 is designed to be a better, lighter trainer that is perfect for runners looking for a short race-day pair of shoes.
Ivan wears a US size 9 that is true to size and fits him well. As a midfoot and forefoot striker, he was impressed with the responsiveness and energy return of the Skechers GOrun Razor 4, giving him the bounce and propulsion needed during his tempo runs.

This lace-up running design also has a podiatrist-designed and approved shape, and a removable Arch Fit® insole developed with 20 years of data and 120,000 unweighted foot scans.
“The arch support insole can be felt immediately upon first slip into the shoe. The cushioning from the insole matches the shape of the bottom of my feet nicely. This is important to me, not only for comfort but as it also promotes a good running form and reduces the risk of injury,” he shared.
For Chermaine, the HYPER BURST PRO™ cushioning midsole technology of the shoe helped in its excellent shock absorption and responsiveness, which ensured a smooth ride throughout her run. The shoe's design and emphasis on its rocker allowed for a good feel of the ground, especially at the toe off, which made for an easy pick up on her tempo run.

Enhanced stability through excellent traction
Renowned for their car tyres, the Goodyear® Performance Outsole is no exception when it comes to providing enhanced stability through excellent traction.
“The shoe is stable and not slippery with every step even on wet grounds. I’ve done a couple of runs on a rainy day and the grip is excellent. I have also tried the shoes on gravel terrains along Coney Island and the verdict is a stable run that allows me to manoeuvre while maintaining my pace,” added Ivan.
