Singapore, 24 April 2025 – The women’s singles gold medalist from the Paris Olympics, An Se Young, will be back in Singapore to defend her title at the KFF Singapore Badminton Open 2025 (KFFSBO), held from 27 May to 1 June 2025, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Fans can also look forward to seeing men’s singles World No.1 Shi Yu Qi return to defend his KFFSBO title, arriving in stellar form after capturing both the All England Open Badminton Championships and Malaysia Open Super 1000 titles this year.

Among the confirmed players are all five champions from the recent Badminton Asia Championships – including men’s singles World No.2 Kunlavut Vitidsarn, who returns to Singapore after missing last year’s edition.

“I missed last year’s Singapore Open due to injury, so I’m definitely looking forward to being back. I’m here to fight, enjoy the game, and hopefully better my previous results,” said the Olympic silver medalist.

The newest and hottest men’s doubles pairing of Kim Won Ho and Seo Seung Jae, who spectacularly captured two Super 1000 titles including the Malaysia Open at their debut, will also be at the KFFSBO.

Malaysia’s Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik, World No.1 women’s doubles pair Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning, All England champions Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida and World No. 1 mixed doubles pair Jiang Zhen Bang and Wei Ya Xin are amongst the top pairs set to feature at the KFFSBO.

Singapore Stars Aim to Shine on Home Soil

Local hopes will be led by Loh Kean Yew, who has enjoyed a strong start to the 2025 season. The World No.11 reached the final of the German Open, secured bronze at the Badminton Asia Championships scoring a high-profile win over World No.1 Shi en route to the semi-finals.

“I’m always proud to compete in Singapore. The cheers of fellow Singaporeans and that electrifying energy always give me that extra boost. I’m excited for the KFF Singapore Badminton Open 2025 and can’t wait to play my best in front of the home crowd!”

Also competing in the Men’s Singles is Jason Teh Jia Heng (World No.23), who clinched his first major title earlier this year at the Thailand Masters. This will be his first time competing at the KFFSBO since the tournament’s elevation to Super 750 status.

In Women’s Singles, Yeo Jia Min (World No.12) enters the tournament with momentum, following a breakthrough victory at the German Open 2025.

Meanwhile, in Mixed Doubles, newly formed pairing Terry Hee Yong Kai and Jin Yu Jia (World No.27) will be making their first appearance together at the KFF Singapore Badminton Open, following the recent retirement of Jessica Tan.

Hee said: “This is our first year partnering together and I’m thrilled that we qualified for a Super 750 event right here in Singapore. Having my parents in the stands – and also my wife Jessica this year – cheering us on with all the other Singaporeans makes it extra special for me.”

A Bigger Stage, A Bolder Showdown

This year’s KFFSBO will feature a prize pool of US$1 million, up from US$850,000 in 2024, reinforcing the tournament’s status as a premier stop on the BWF World Tour Super 750 circuit.

With athletes from 27 countries, support from title sponsor Karim Family Foundation and presenting sponsor JK Technology, and over 70% of tickets already sold, anticipation is high for one of the most exciting editions yet.

Tickets are available from Ticketmaster and range from $40 to $330 for daily tickets, with season passes available from $100 to $450.
