BANGKOK, THAILAND — Singapore table tennis rising star Loy Ming Ying has firmly cemented her status as one of the nation's most promising young paddlers following a spectacular week of international competition.
Demonstrating incredible grit, skill, and versatility, Loy captured two silver medals and a bronze medal across consecutive World Table Tennis (WTT) youth events held in Bangkok, Thailand, from May 18 to 24, 2026.
Here is a breakdown of how the Singapore youth paddler dominated the international youth circuit.
Sibling Synergy: U19 Mixed Doubles Silver
The medal haul began at the WTT Youth Contender Bangkok 2026 (18 – 21 May 2026). Partnering with her brother, Loy Xing Yao, the Singapore siblings put on a masterclass in chemistry and determination in the U19 Mixed Doubles event.
The duo mounted a composed and relentless run all the way to the tournament final. Facing a formidable pair from Chinese Taipei—Yu Yu-Cing and Lu Yu En—the Loy siblings fought valiantly but ultimately finished as runners-up, taking home a well-deserved silver medal with a final score of 3-1 (9-11, 11-3, 11-8, 11-8).

Back-to-Back Finals: U19 Girls’ Doubles Success
Carrying immense momentum into the higher-tier WTT Youth Star Contender Bangkok 2026 (22 – 24 May 2026), Loy Ming Ying transitioned seamlessly to the U19 Girls’ Doubles event alongside partner Chloe Lai.
The Singapore pair's campaign was defined by absolute resilience. They survived two consecutive, nerve-wracking 3-2 thrillers against elite pairings from Korea Republic and Chinese Taipei in the quarter-finals and semi-finals respectively to book their spot in the final.
In the championship match, Loy and Lai went toe-to-toe with China's powerhouse duo, Yao Ruixuan and Jiang Yiyi. Despite a spirited performance, the Singaporeans fell just short, 3-1 (11-9, 11-8, 8-11, 11-6), securing their second stellar silver medal of the week. A Gritty Poduim Finish in U19 Girls' Singles
In addition to her doubles masterclasses, Loy proved her elite individual prowess in the U19 Girls' Singles bracket at the WTT Youth Star Contender.
Her singles campaign featured standout performances, including:
Round of 16: A gritty 3-2 comeback victory over India’s Divyanshi Bhowmick (9-11, 11-9, 11-5, 7-11, 11-3).
Quarter-finals: A dominant 3-1 tactical win against Korea Republic’s JEONG Yein (11-9, 12-10, 5-11, 13-11).

Loy’s historic run eventually came to an end in the semi-finals against Chen Chi-Yun of Chinese Taipei. Despite racing out to a commanding 2-0 lead, Loy ultimately succumbed to a fierce counter-attack, losing 3-2 (11-7, 11-6, 9-11, 10-12, 3-11) to finish joint-third with a bronze medal.
