SEVILLE, SPAIN, 14 February 2026 - The energy in Seville this weekend isn't just about the historic architecture or the tapas; it’s about the intersection of elite running performance and cutting-edge technology.

The global launch of the ASICS SUPERBLAST™ 3 in Seville brought together elite and influential runners from across Southeast Asia, combining high-stakes marathon racing with first-hand testing of ASICS’ latest premium super trainer.

As Sport Plus Media landed in the capital of Andalusia Spain, we caught up with the Southeast Asian contingent ready to light up the Seville Marathon course.

Malaysia’s top marathoners Haziq Hamzah and Michelle Chua target personal best performances, while popular Malaysian running vlogger Kelvin Wan and Thailand’s athlete ambassador Sarocha Sinprasop (Jiie) shared their experiences running on the streets of Seville — offering exclusive insight into race preparation, athlete mindset, and how SUPERBLAST™ 3 fits into serious marathon training.

Malaysia’s Marathon Duo Target Personal Bests in Seville

For Malaysian national marathoners Haziq Hamzah and Michelle Chua, Seville represents more than just another international race. Both athletes are chasing performances that could set new personal bests and bring them closer to dreams of one day rewriting Malaysia’s record books.

Fresh off a stunning 2:29:40 in Tokyo 2025, Haziq Hamzah isn't here to play it safe. Alongside Michelle Chua, who recently emerged as the fastest Malaysian woman at KLSCM 2025, he has one goal in Seville: to achieve a personal best this Sunday. For Michelle, she hopes to improve on her previous personal best time of 3:05 given the near perfect conditions predicted for this Sunday.

On his personal best attempt: "Seville is known as one of the flattest, fastest courses in the world," says Haziq. "I’ve been chasing that 2:28 barrier, and everything in training suggests it’s there."

“This race is a big opportunity for me,” said Haziq Hamzah. “I’ve been building toward a peak performance, and Seville gives us fast conditions and a strong field. After some disappointments last year, a strong showing would be great validation on my progress.”

Michelle Chua echoed the significance of the race, emphasising the long-term goals behind her Seville appearance.

“Every marathon block is about progress, but this one is special,” said Michelle Chua. “I've had a good training block and I’ve trained consistently, and Seville is where I want to put everything together.”

Race Weekend Tips from Malaysia's Elites:

Haziq: "Don't try anything new on race morning. Trust the miles you’ve banked."

Michelle: "Focus on hydration days before, not just the night before. Seville can be deceptively dry."

On the SUPERBLAST™ 3: "The first thing I noticed was the weight," Haziq notes. "For a shoe with this much stack height (46.5mm), it feels impossibly light. It’s going to be my go-to for those 30km+ 'cruise' sessions."

The Content King: Behind The Scenes with Running Vlogger K1 Runs (Kelvin Wan)

If you've searched for a marathon vlog in Singapore or Malaysia, you've likely seen Kelvin Wan, better known as K1 Runs. The popular Malaysian running vlogger and YouTuber is experiencing Seville not just as a race destination, but as a unique opportunity to connect with the global running community.

“It's great meeting runners from different countries and cultures,” Kelvin shared. “People see the videos, but what they don’t always know is how much planning, training, and travel goes into creating that content.”

“I’ve used a lot of ASICS shoes, but for racing, I really trust the METASPEED™ series,” he explained. “I love those the most but for Seville, I’m planning to race in non carbon-plated super trainers, yes I will be racing in SUPERBLAST™ 3 - a great choice for my key workouts and long runs.”

On SUPERBLAST™ 3, Kelvin added:

“The bounce is very noticeable, but it’s also stable. For content creators who also train seriously, it’s nice to have one shoe that can handle a lot of different sessions.”

The Thai Trailblazer: Jiie (Sarocha Sinprasop)

For Thailand’s Sarocha Sinprasop (Jiie), the Seville weekend represents a major milestone — including valuable international racing experience.

“This is my first race in Europe, so everything feels very exciting,” Jiie said. “The atmosphere in Seville is amazing, and it’s inspiring to see so many fast runners from around the world.”

Jiie is a long-time ASICS user and highlighted several favorite models in her rotation.

Coming off her brilliant PB performance at the Tokyo Marathon in 2025 where she clocked an astonishing 3:07, Jiie is making her European racing debut right here in Seville.

She shares: "I am excited! This is the first time I am in Europe, and the cool weather is a runner's dream," says Jiie. "This weekend won't be a sub 3 attempt, but I hope to train hard this year and do so next year."

Comparing the SUPERBLAST™ 3 vs 2: "I loved the SUPERBLAST™ 2 for its stability, but the SUPERBLAST™ 3 feels more 'active,'" Jiie explains. "The new FF LEAP™ foam is softer but returns more energy. What I like most is that it protects my legs on the hard pavement without feeling mushy. It’s definitely an upgrade in terms of responsiveness."
