What is the ASICS META: Time: Trials?

A 10km road race meant to challenge every runner's personal best, the ASICS META: Time: Trials has been scaled up and is back bigger and better than before

Debuting in 2022, the global edition of the ASICS: META: Time: Trials was first held in Malaga, Spain in April while the Southeast Asian edition began in Bangkok, Thailand on 4 September 2022.

The regional ASICS: Time: Trials is a 10km road race with the key objective of bringing together the running community to race and for each runner to beat his or her own Personal Bests (PB).

The event got its name from the global edition where ASICS athletes from all over the world came together to race in their latest ASICS carbon-plated racers, METASPEED+™️ to beat their best timings.

Runners who take part in the second Southeast Asian edition of the ASICS META: Time: Trials held in Cyberjaya, Malaysia on Sunday, 19 November 2023 can experience a scaled up event with greater mass participation of runners with different abilities.

While more performance-driven runners are invited to race alongside top ASICS regional athletes to challenge their personal bests, the event also hopes to provide a platform for new runners or less-peformance driven runners to clock their first 10km race and have a taste of an adrenaline-pumping time trial.

With that in mind, SportPlus.sg has teamed up with ASICS to help you answer those burning questions about the ASICS META: Time: Trials and what you can expect by signing up.

Why is 10km the race distance chosen for the ASICS META: Time: Trials?

ASICS: In view of racing conditions across Southeast Asia, most runners tend to clock their Personal Bests for longer distances such as the half and full marathons outside of the region in cooler weather conditions. Hence ASICS decided on a 10km race distance with good competitive elements to challenge runners to beat their own records in Malaysia.

In addition, the distance poses an attainable challenge to newer runners who can have a taste of the adrenaline pumping action either by completing their first race or clocking their Personal Best (PB).

ASICS: With some good learnings from the last edition, ASICS is working towards an improved race course and conditions for the runners.

Some takeaways include moving the flag-off time to a later time to address the humidity issue and changing from a 5km-loop course to a 10km loop course.
