SINGAPORE, 22 JULY 2026 - The excitement for the inaugural PPA Tour Asia 500 Leapmotor Singapore Open kicked off with a massive dose of flair this afternoon. As pickleball fever sweeps through the Lion City, the marquee opening tournament—the Leapmotor Pickle Rumble—took over The Sports Arina @ Expo (Hall 10) on July 22, 2026, delivering an unforgettable afternoon of high-energy entertainment.

Representing 100PLUS Singapore, sports personalities Scott Lim and Lee Jiawei stole the spotlight, putting on a dazzling display across three intense matches that blended competitive spirit with jaw-dropping execution.

A New Era of Play: Rewarding Style at the Pickle Rumble

Unlike traditional pickleball fixtures, the Leapmotor Pickle Rumble introduced the world’s first-of-its-kind trick shot competition format, designed to reward creativity, risk-taking, and crowd-pleasing execution.

Under the unique scoring system, players were incentivised to pull off high-difficulty maneuvers rather than just standard rally wins:

  • Nasty Nelson (+5 points): Serves hitting the non-receiving player below the neck.

  • Around The Post / ATP (+4 points): Shots traveling outside the net post to land legally in bounds.

  • Erne (+4 points): Volleying close to the net while moving completely outside the sideline boundaries.

  • Tweener (+3 points): Daring shots struck by swinging the paddle between the legs.

  • Body Bag (+3 points): Direct hits on an opponent's body below the neck (excluding the hand or wrist holding the paddle) before a bounce.

Scott and Jiawei fully embraced the philosophy of the format, trading standard dinks for explosive Around The Post sweeps and daring Tweeners that kept the spectators at Hall 10 roaring.

More Than Just Style: The Vital Role of Hydration Indoors

While the trick shots brought the flair, the physical demands of playing high-intensity pickleball under the spotlight brought another crucial lesson to the forefront: hydration.

Despite the venue being an indoor, air-conditioned environment, the relentless nature of short-burst rallies, lateral movements, and cardiovascular strain means players lose essential fluids faster than they realise.

Scott and Jiawei, flying the colours for 100PLUS Singapore, took the opportunity to highlight why staying hydrated is non-negotiable, even when you aren't sweating under a blazing outdoor sun.

Reflecting on the afternoon's intense matches, Scott Lim shared:

"People often assume that because you're playing indoors in an air-conditioned hall, your body isn't working as hard or losing fluids. But the speed of pickleball—especially in a high-octane format like the Pickle Rumble where you're constantly exploding into position for trick shots—gets your heart rate up instantly. Proper hydration with 100PLUS keeps our energy levels sharp and prevents fatigue from creeping in midway through a match."

Echoing his sentiment, Lee Jiawei emphasised the importance of proactive recovery during tournament play:"When you're out there competing at a fast pace over multiple matches, focus and coordination are everything. If you wait until you feel thirsty, your performance has already dipped. Having 100PLUS on hand ensures we replenish our electrolytes efficiently so we can stay quick on our feet and perform at our absolute best from the first whistle to the last."

Looking Ahead to the PPA Tour Asia 500 Leapmotor Singapore Open

The successful conclusion of the Leapmotor Pickle Rumble marks the official curtain-raiser for a historic week of sports. With top international stars, regional powerhouses, and passionate local talents converging at Singapore EXPO Hall 10 through July 26, the bar has officially been set high. As the action transitions into the main professional and amateur draws, fans heading down to The Sports Arena @ Expo can expect world-class rallies, elite competition, and plenty of courtside inspiration—fueled, of course, by 100PLUS. #PickleRumble #PPATourAsia500 #Pickleball
